Gaushala, 25 March, 2015Â : The celebration of the Chaiti Chhath festival continues in various parts of the Terai region of the country and in North Central region of India among the Maithali people as today marked the third day of the festival.
As a part of the celebration of this four-day festival, people in Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari, Bara, Parsa and Bihar in India today evening make offerings to the setting sun.
Riversides in the Terai districts are decorated on this occasion and people throng there in-bulk in the morning and evening to their nearest riverside to make the offering to Sun God.
This is the only festival that worships the setting sun.
It is believed that this festival helps inculcate the faith towards non-violence and compassion among people.
The festival comes to an end tomorrow. This is the second worship of the Sun God. The main Chhath falls in the month of Kartik mid October to mid-November).
