Kathmandu, Aug. 25: The Central Monitoring and Evaluation Committee has directed the bodies concerned to make all necessary arrangements for the smooth supply of foodstuffs during the upcoming festivals.
The 33rd meeting of the Committee held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers under the coordination of Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal Saturday also made various decisions for checking and minimizing the use of pesticides on fruits and vegetables and for the management of hospital waste.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary instructed the respective ministries to immediately ensure food stuffs and shelter for those affected by recent floods and inundations at different parts of the country and to repair the damaged roadways including the Araniko Highway.
He directed the government authorities to intensity market monitoring to check untoward hoarding, artificial shortage and price-hike of food stuffs during the festive season and to maintain business ethics. He has urged the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Nepal Chamber of Commerce to cooperate the government to control possible market irregularities during the upcoming festivals.
The ministries concerned have been asked to team up for the management of hospital waste materials.
