Children’s festival happening for the first time ever in Nepal

Preparation in full swing in Jhapa

Jhapa, January 16, 2017: For the first time ever in Nepal, a children’s festival is set to be organized in Jhapa. Being conducted by Ujyalo Child Club, the fest will take place beginning this January 27.

The 3-days long event will see the participation of children from the Eastern Development Region, along with representatives from all the organizations concerned to children in the region.

Being held with the slogan “Today’s capable children for tomorrow’s prosperous Nepal”, the event seeks to promote and uplift the leadership and personality development skills of children in the region.

“Being the first of its kind in Nepal, we are expecting visitors numbering more than 1.5 lakhs,” said Santosh Bhandari, coordinator of the main organizing committee of the event.

To be held at the stadium located in Lakhanpur of Jhapa, various kinds of programmes are to be conducted along with the exhibition of different stalls that will help foster the overall development of children.

“The event will see various sessions and exhibitions including paintings, photo exhibition, dance, drama, health camp, science exhibition, children’s garden, magic show, and art among various other stalls,” said Bishnu Poudel, coordinator of the promotion committee of the event. “The fair will also see singing, painting, and various other competitions being organized on the occasion,” he added.

The organizing committee has mentioned that 24 children’s clubs under the Lakhanpur Children’s Network will put up their stalls on the occasion, and these stalls shall be competitive; and the best performing stall will be awarded.

Damak Municipality and Lakhanpur VDC are coordinating the festival.
