Chinese Book Fair Commenced Today

Pro_Ktm_Chiness Book Fair (1)Kathmandu, October 11: The Chinese Book Fair 2014 has begun today. The fair is organised, aiming at providing information about Chinese publications and cultures as well as extending mutual relations between Nepal and China in this sector.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, , Minister for Information and Communications Dr. Minendra Rijal and Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal, among others jointly inaugurated the fair organised in collaboration with Press and Publication Bureau in Tibet, Tibet Autonomous Region People’s Government Information Office, and the National Booksellers and Publishers Association of Nepal (NBPAN).

On the occasion, Minister Dr. Rijal said that the fair would help strengthen mutual relations between the two countries and exchange knowledge, information and cultures.

He mentioned that the developing country like Nepal should study and review the development and progress to know the recent global market.

Similarly, different agreements regarding publication, translation, and study visit were signed between different publication houses of Nepal and China.

As many as 17 publication houses of China are participating in the fair. The fair is organised at Hotel Annapurna, Durbarmarg, Kathmandu and it would continue till October 17.

Present on the occasion were Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal Chairman, Upendra Yadav, UCPN (Maoist) leader Hisila Yami, former ministers for Information and Communications, Madhav Poudel and Dinanath Sharma, and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Yu Chuntai.

A 26-member Chinese delegation under the leadership of Standing Party Committee member of Tibet Autonomous Region, minister of the Propaganda Department of Tibet, Dong Yunhu, has arrived in Nepal to visit the fair.
