Chris Gayle set to play for Everest Premier League

Kathmandu: The West Indies cricket iconic player Chris Gayle will be coming to Nepal to play the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) Cricket Tournament to be held in Kathmandu.

Organizing at the press meet in Kathmandu, Pokhara Rhinos and EPL teams proclaimed Gayle as the iconic player for this season.

The  Pokhara Rhinos owner, Deepa Agarwal said that the EPL’s success motivated to convince one of the best T-20 players and legend of the game, Chris Gayle, to feature in the tournament.

Gayle captained the West Indies Test team from 2007 to 2010 and considered to be one of the best batsmen in T20 cricket. He has set numerous records in all three formats of the game and the highest player in international cricket for the West Indies and the only player to score a triplet of centuries – a triple hundred in Tests, double hundred in ODIs and a hundred in T20Is. He scored a 30-ball century that became the highest individual T20 score while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Gayle reached the 10,000 runs milestone in T20 cricket after scoring 77 runs off 38 balls playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore on 18 April 2017.

Managing Director of the EPL Mr.Aamir Akhtar said that Chris Gayle will benefit Nepali Cricket as a whole and also the promotion of Visit Nepal 2020. The tournament is set to start from March 14 to 28 this year.
