Jan 18, 2015: Thousands of students graduate every year however, the job market still isn’t getting any easier.  According to Sagar Satyal and Shristi Mishra, Country Representatives for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Global Business Challenge, “Undergraduate students are always wanting to develop new skills and explore ways to get more exposure but are mostly unaware of where to go and what to do.”

CIMA is a UK based management accountants professional body that organizes the business competition annually in partnership with Barclays in 24 different countries where the national winners from 24 nations come together to compete for the global prize.

Having participated in the competition themselves, their team of four from Ace Institute of Management made it to Johannesburg, South Africa as Nepal winners in 2013. Sharing their experience they said, “Having experienced that level of exposure, networking and learning opportunity, we felt that we could do more and therefore have taken on the responsibility to make this opportunity widely available to Nepali undergraduate students.”

“It is a great opportunity for undergraduate students to broaden their horizon, implement what they have learnt and network with country winners from 24 countries. The prospect of going in the final to Poland this year in an all expense trip is the main attraction for many students who haven’t been abroad before.” added Satyal and Mishra.

CIMA in partnership with Barclays have created a fantastic opportunity for undergraduates all around the world and to bridge the gap between students here and the global exposure that comes along with this competition. An enthusiastic team of Shristi Mishra and Sagar Satyal who want to contribute to the education sector of Nepal said that they aim to have a Nepali team make it to the top 6 in the global final in next 2-3 years.

Any team doing their undergraduate degree can register in CIMA   and all four members have to be from the same college. “Education is separation and the Global Business Challenge is a great platform for undergraduates in Nepal to showcase their business acumen in front of international judges and stand out from the rest.”

All participating teams have to submit a report acting as business consultants to a company on the case study provided by CIMA. A total of 4 teams will be shortlisted whereby they will make a presentation in front of national judges. The winning team will get to represent Nepal in an all-expenses paid trip to Poland in August 2015.
