Civil servants casting votes in 117 booths across country

Kathmandu, June 1, 2016: First ever election for the official trade union of civil servants has started today from 9 am. The elections are being conducted at 117 election booths across 75 districts.

Six different civil personnel associations affiliated with major political parties are contesting the elections. Association bagging the most numbers of votes will become the official trade union of civil servants.

The elections are being held in 42 ministries at Singha Durbar where state central secretariat is located.

The voting will last till 5 pm today.

Altogether 55 thousand 300 voters are participating in the elections.

More than 13 thousand voters are in Kathmandu alone, Punya Prasad Dhakal, chairman of civil servant association affiliated with UML party told.

The association getting most numbers of votes will get logo of the official trade union and form a 21-member central committee.
