COMMITTEES FORMED AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN KAVRE

Banepa (Kavre), Sept 19: Different coordination committees against human trafficking have been formed in 50 VDCs in Kavre district.

The committees were formed under the chairmanship of VDC secretaries with the coordination of different non-governmental organizations (NGO) to end the human trafficking as the cases of trafficking in women and children are on rise in the areas, Mayalu Tamang, chairperson of Nepal Tamang Women Association, Kavre.

The committees were formed under the provision of Human Trafficking and Control Act-2065 BS.

Some 108 cases related to illegal selling of kidney by unscrupulous conmen were found in different VDCs including Hokse in the district, said Laxmi Shah of Women and Children Office, Kavre.

Such cases were found in Panchkhal, Sarsyukharka, Bhimpokhari, Dhungakharka, Mahadevsthan among others VDCs in the district.

According to the statistics, 20.7 youths and 10.3 children were reportedly trafficked in the world.

Similarly, five to seven thousand women have been trafficking in India annually.
