Kathmandu, Sept 23: Community schools in over 50 districts have remained closed, due to the protest organized by Temporary Teachers Struggle Committee.

The Committee organised the protests demanding that the teachers working in temporary, contract and quota basis at the community schools across the country should be provided with the salary equivalent to that of the permanent teachers.

The government on September 2 directed the District Education Offices urging not to provide salary to the teachers working on temporary, contract, and quota basis equal to those working in permanent status. Thus, the Committee decided to disrupt classes in all community schools across the country.

Likewise, the teachers working on temporary, contract, and quota basis in the Valley have been staging sit-in at the Office of the Department of Education, said committee chairman Ram Chandra Adhikari.

The temporary teachers have been staging sit-in in all the District Education Office, Addhikari added. He warned of continuing the protest until the government corrected the decision.
