COMMUNITY SCHOOLS MARKS LIBRARY DAY

Kathmandu, September 1 :  The National Library Day has been marked in Nawalparasi district under the joint aegis of community based organization and schools.

The community schools organized several activities to highlight the importance of the day from August 26-31 with the assistance of Vijaya Development Resource Centre ( VDRC-Nepal ) and Room to Read.

With the slogan ‘Expansion of Library , foundation of civilized society ‘, the schools organized Teej song competition , quiz competition, quiz contest, oratory contest, art exhibition and essay writing, among others to explore latent talents of school students.

On the occasion, VDRC-Nepal and Room to Read provided Rs.500 each to 142 schools of Nawalparasi district so as to incentivize contestant students with different prizes. Likewise, Rs. 500 each was also aided to stimulate discussion among guardians to encourage their children to take part in such social activities.

VDRC-Nepal has been implementing library construction and promotion, reading and writing instruction and children’s educational rights in Nawalparasi and Chitwan districts in cahoots with Room to Read.
