Concern Shown On Disruption Of MBBS Classes By A Parliamentary Committee

Kathmandu, July 12: The concerns have been shown on the disruption of the MBBS classes by a parliamentary committee at the Janakpur-based Janaki Medical College.

The MBBS classes at the college have remained closed for the past ten months.

Institute of Medicine (IOM) and Nepal Medical Council (NMC) was decided to direct to to immediately initiate a process to resume the classes within the next ten days.The meeting was chaired by Committee President Sushil Kumar Shrestha.

Problems seen in the college were addressed as prolonged halt of teaching classes has posed a threat to future of some 317 students pursuing the MBBS degree at the college in a meeting of the Social Justice and Human Rights Committee, Legislature-Parliament on Sunday.

Moreover, to run medical colleges and processes in the operation, the meeting agreed to recommend punitive action against college founders, ensure compensation to the victim students, and to form a five–member committee to carry out study about problems seen in granting affiliation.
