Biratnagar, Aug. 2: Amid possible threats of flooding in Saptakoshi river after the passage of blocked water Sunkoshi river, Chief Engineer Rajesh Kumar of India’s Koshi Plan in Bihar said that they were fully alert about it. He said that it takes 10 hours to reach the blocked water in Koshi barrage after joining into the Saptakoshi river and the arrangements would be made safely for the water to run off. He said that required technicians were deployed for the same in different sites. Currently, 18 spurs have been opened in Koshi barrage and an order has been issued to open all 56 spurs during the time of risk. At present, there is 132,000 cusec water in the Koshi barrage while it has the total capacity of 900,000 cusec. Likewise, the security personnel in Sunsari district have been shifting the locals of Haripur and Kushaha VDCs to the safe sites. RSS
