Kathmandu,27 Jan 2015: Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal on Tuesday said a constitution honouring the votes of the people was the immediate necessity.
Speaking to journalists at the Biratnagar airport, the Minister said the constitution would be delivered at the earliest if the agitating UCPN (Maoist) including the Madhes-centric parties agreed on the voting process.
Minister Rijal, who is also the government spokesperson, said the ruling parties would continue their efforts till the last hour for a bid at forging consensus with the opposition.
He urged the opposition parties to not brush aside the votes of the people by joining hands with the agitating parties outside of the Constituent Assembly while calling on UCPN (Maoist) to not abandon the journey that began following the 12-point understanding.
The Minister urged the parties including the UCPN (Maoist) to have confidence on people’s supremacy. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s commitment of issuing the constitution through voting process if agreement could not be reached with the UCPN (Maoist) among other parties.
