Ilam, Dec 2: Senior leader of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said the country would get new constitution by the slated date of January 22.
At a new conference organized by the Press Union Ilam Chapter here today, senior leader Deuba said the ruling Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML were ready to promulgate constitution on the sated date, so the 22-party alliance should also come to the national consensus immediately.
He stressed the need to sort out the disputed issues of the constitution through dialogue and discussion.
“All parties should move ahead with consensus as the deadline to deliver constitution was approaching fast,” he said, adding that timely promulgation of constitution was essential to give a political out let to the country.
The former prime minister urged the chairman of the political constitutional dialogue and consensus committee, Baburam Bhattarai, to forward the joint proposal of the ruling parties to the Constituent Assembly.
