Darchula, 1 Jan 2015: The construction of a suspension bridge linking Nepal-India has begun over the Mahakali River in Uku VDC, Joljibi of Darchula district.
The construction works started Wednesday after around 10 months the contract for the same was awarded.
The Department of Local Infrastructure and Agricultural Roads (DoLIDAR) under the Ministry of Local Development had signed contract with MP Construction Company in Nepalgunj.
The bridge estimated to be constructed at the cost of Rs 8 million will have the length of 169 metres. The flood occurred in the Mahakali Rover on mid-June last year had swept away the suspension bridge over the river.
