Pokhara, 18 October 2014: Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has said the construction of the international airport would begin in Pokhara within this year, as the documents were well prepared and other process made smooth.
At a discussion programme organized by Pokhara Chamber of Industry and Commerce here today, Finance Minister Dr Mahat said although all political parties were positive on the construction of the international airport, it took time to set due procedures.
“The second international airport is the national pride project, so I’m confident that its construction would begin even on internal resources,” he said, adding that people do not need to demonstrate and stage sit-in demanding the international airport here.
Similarly, he informed that the blacktopping of Myagdi-Mustang roadway and construction of mid-hill highway, Upper Marsyangdi and Seti Hydro Power projects were being initiated very soon.
Constituent Assembly member Yagya Bahadur Thapa, at the programme, demanded the acceleration of the construction of regional airport of international standard in Pokhara.
