Kathmandu, Sept 16: The 33-party alliance led by the CPN-Maoist is not participating in the all-party political conference until a written agreement is made on the policy roadmap of the conference.

“The all-party conference has no meaning until a written agreement is reached on its agenda, decision-making scope and the alternative ways of consensus on issues the conference is not able to address, while continuing the talks and dialogue among the parties,” CPN-Maoist chairman Mohan Baidya stated in a press statement he issued today.

He has made it clear that they could not participate in the conference the agenda and jurisdiction of which the ruling parties are not agreed on although it is termed an all-party conference.

The conference is meaningless and irrelevant after the ruling parties stated that it would be limited only to issues of the constitution, that it could not take political decisions and that no written understanding could be made among the four parties regarding its preparation, agenda and scope, the press statement reads.
