Kathmandu, August 2: The Ministry of Home has declared the crisis-ridden zone for 200 meters left and right from the riversides in the districts affected by the blockade triggered by landslide in Bhotekoshi and Sunkoshi rivers.
An emergency meeting of the Central Natural Disaster Rescue Committee held under the chair of Home Minister Bamdev Gautam took a decision to this effect.
The meeting was held after the massive landslide in Jure of Mankha VDC in constituency no. 1 of Sindhupalchwok district blocked the river causing inundation of houses and disruption of highway from early this morning.
The meeting of the Central Natural Disaster Rescue Committee has also given a directive to the security bodies to adopt necessary alertness to make arrangements for the water release.
The meeting has also decided to deploy required number of security personnel under the command of Nepal Army to release the water either by explosion or any other measures from the blocked area.
The decisions would be sent to the Nepal Government through the Ministry of Home Affairs for endorsement.
Likewise, directive has been issued to shift the affected people to the safer areas, rescue the injured and make arrangements for treatment as well as provide food and shelter for the rescued persons.
Similarly, the means and resources of government and non-governmental bodies and security bodies would be mobilized in coordination with the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee for the search, rescue and relief works.
The meeting has also given directive to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to keep the helicopters of private airlines in ready position to deploy for rescue works in case of need.
