Literary fest to promote Ilam

Dharan, December 27, 2016: Dharan ma Ilam, a two-day literary meet-up, was organised by Sunsari Morang Illam Society, this weekend. Organised with an aim to promote Ilam’s tourism and biodiversity, the event featured about 70 stalls that had agricultural products such as tea, organic fruits, and vegetables produced in Ilam as well as information about historical sites and touristic hubs in the district.

Speaking at the event, Ganesh Rashik, litterateur and chairperson of Music and Theatre Academy, said, “I am proud to promote my ancestral place here in Dharan. Art and culture helps strengthen emotional bond between two districts.” Rashik also recited a poem at the event. Literary figures like Sundar Kurup, Yeku Ghimire, Kunta Sharma, Bimal Baidhya, and many others also recited their poems.

While, Illam-based artists Yam Baral and Kuber Rai also performed at the first day of the event.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of political figures from Ilam, Jalanath Khanal and Subash Chandra Nembang, among others.
