Rolpa, Nov 12: Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal who arrived here Monday on a four-day visit has intensified meetings with the party cadres and locals.

Rolpa is the district from where the then CPN (Maoist) had started its People’s War against the state on 13 February 1994 under Dahal’s leadership. This district was considered the bastion of the Maoist insurgency.

In course of his visit the UCPN (Maoist) chairman is visiting various places and villages associated with the People’s War and where he once stayed underground commanding the war.

Dahal started his Rolpa visit from Holeri, the place where the then CPN (Maoist) had declared a war against the state. He met with the locals in Holeri on Tuesday and immediately visited Nuwagaon and Tila at Gairigaon, interacting with the locals. The UCPN (Maoist) chairman and former Prime Minister also visited Ghartigaon Losebang where the party had established its headquarters during the insurgency.

While talking to the locals of different villages, Dahal said that he has never forgotten the Rolpa people and the place and assured that he would not let the sacrifice of the people to be squandered.

Stating that he has come to Rolpa to listen to the people, he said he would not allow the dreams of the people injured during the People’s War and the families of the martyrs to be wasted.

On Tuesday, Dahal visited Dandagaon of Rashi and went to the house where he had sheltered during the People’s War and the bunkers.

He spent the night at the house of Nanda Kishor Pun ‘Pasang’, the then commander of the erstwhile People’s Liberation Army, at Dandagaon. He is scheduled to address a formal programme being held at Rashi today.

After today’s formal programme, party chairman Dahal’s itinerary will spend the night today at Jankot Madichaur, the village of leader Barshaman Pun, and proceed towards Libang, the district headquarters, tomorrow.
