A Dalit family has been prohibited from using the public tap in Sangachowk-4 of Sindhupalchowk distrct.
The family of Bishnu BK was stopped from using the tap that was recently collected with local people’s fund. Even the BK family had contributed Rs. 1,050 to the local users’ committee like any other family in the village.
And it has been learnt that UCPN (Maoist) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party cadres were involved in the inhumane act in the name of so-called upper caste.
The public tap was connected through the local Panichaur Drinking Water Project.
“I was stopped from collecting water at the tap by UCPN (Maoist) leader Bishnu Lal Shrestha and his wife, calling me one from the low caste”, BK said.
Likewise, local RRP leader Nawa Lal Shrestha too said that the collection of water from the public tap by BK would impure it, according to BK
