Kathmandu, Jan 23: Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang on Friday said the current impasse dogging the Constituent Assembly would end at the CA session to be held on Sunday.
Talking to reporters after leaving the CA today, Nembang said he had handed down various alternative schemes of agreement to the political party leaders and added that the deadlock would be resolved through the voting process if bid at consensus proved abortive.
“We cannot turn back or continue to stand still, the process must move forward,” Nembang said.
He said the matter of formation of the Proposal Committee to expedite the preparation of questionnaire as per the existing practices and regulation would be soon brought to head. Nembang said the CA would then enter the proceedings to change the CA Calendar.
The UCPN (Maoist) and Madhes-centric parties have been obstructing the CA session to prevent the process of formation of the Proposal Committee by reiterating their stance on a constitution based on consensus.
The CA is scheduled to meet at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
