Gaighat (Udaypur), Nov 17: The decision of Katari branch of Himali Transport Entrepreneurs’ Association and Area Police Office for not allowing women passengers to sit beside drivers has been withdrawn.

The Katari branch of the Association and Area Police Office had taken the decision to this effect in view of reducing the increasing road accidents in the district, often occurring from the lack of driver’s focus during the driving hour as the drivers engaged in conversation with women passengers.

Katari branch Chief of the Association, Shatrudhan Karki, said the decision was withdrawn after different district-based women rights activists and Women’s Network protested the decision.
