Kathmandu, Aug. 28 : Deliberations on the proposal seeking consideration on the amended bill relating to Constitution of Nepal 2072 continues at the 123rd meeting of the Constituent Assembly today.

Taking part in the meeting this morning, former Prime Minister and senior CPN-UML leader Jhalanth Khanal said a peaceful society today could be envisaged only by following the ideals of Buddha, while describing the Tikarpur incident as condemnable and barbaric.

Stating that the feudal forces were raising their heads to overturn democratic republic, he appealed to all parties to unite to promulgate the new constitution as soon as possible. ‘The rights of women, muslim, tharu, labourers must be guaranteed in the new constitution’, he said.

He also called the constitution a document of consensus and that the Nepali people were in favour of unity.

Likewise, CA member Prakash Sharan Mahat called the Tikapur incident as inhumane, cruel and condemnable, and said every ethnic community cannot have a separate province.

CA member Janardan Sharma appealed to the people to not go by the stubborn position of any side, and stressed that the rights of Karnali people be guaranteed.

Similarly, CA member Dilnath Giri said a constitution acceptable to all must be promulgated while CA member Janak Raj Chaudhary said the new constitution must come in the interest of the dalit, women, muslim and other backward groups.

Deliberations over the bill continues in the CA since the past two days.
