Ratnanagar (Chitwan),20 Nov 2014: Some 65 diligent and destitute students in Chitwan have been provided with scholarship worth Rs 24.2 million in a year, the District Education Office (DEO), Chitwan, said.
The scholarship fund has been provided by the DEO itself under various categories as poor, Dalit, differently able and marginalized.
Some 70 students had been benefitted by the scholarship, amounting to Rs 30 million in the last fiscal year, informed Hemchandra Poudel, school inspector at DAO, Chitwan.
Among the most benefitted students are those from pre-school level. The Dalits and the disabled come second to it. The scholarship was provided to the conflict-hit students as well.
The government has been providing scholarship under its policy to attract students and to improve the quality of education at government schools.
