Kathmandu, Sept. 27: Speakers at a programme in the capital today have said that development and expansion of cooperative sector would help make country economically independent.
Former cooperative minister Homnath Dahal said that cooperative would contribute to reduce country’s economic dependence on others.
Addressing the 6th annual general assembly of Mangalmurti Saving and Credit Cooperative, Dahal said collecting the dispersed capital and linking it to production through cooperative is the need of the hour at a time when the country was moving ahead in an abnormal situation due to huge amount of exports.
Likewise, former lawmaker and expert on cooperative sector Bishnu Bahadur Raut said that cooperative would help reduce youth unemployment and poverty.
The cooperative has collected Rs 30 million while the loan imbursement is as high as Rs 13.5 million, it is said.
