DISEASE CLAIMS MANY CATTLE IN KAVRE, BHAKTAPUR

Bhaktapur, Sept 27: Dozens of cattle have died of haemorrhagic septicaemia disease along the border areas in Bhaktapur and Kavre district.

 

Local farmers said that the cattle grown up to sell for Dashain are dying for the past one week in Nankhel VDC in Bhaktapur and Nasika VDC in Kavre.

 

Local Ganesh Lama said that a large number of he-buffaloes and he-goats kept for Dashain have died of disease. He said the farmers have lost millions of rupees after the death of cattle as well as the farmers’ means to manage expenses for Dashain is gone.

 

The locals have buried the dead cattle with the support from the police after the number of dead cattle increased.

 

The district livestock office said that the disease control was not possible due to late information from the farmers.

 

Chief of Office and senior veterinarian Bal Bahadur Chand said identification of the disease and immunization on the cattle was initiated in the area after the information about the disease.
