Kathmandu, 5th January,2015 :Â Â The City Hall has been losing Rs 150,000 every day due to dispute surfaced between the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Urban Development.
The Ministry had reconstructed the Hall, which is under the ownership of the KMC, on the occasion of the 18th SAARC Summit held on November 26 and 27.
The problem surfaced after the Ministry wanted to take the Hall under its ownership while the KMC has been claiming its ownership.
The Building Construction and Maintenance Division Office under the Urban Development Ministry has locked the main hall of the City Hall due to the dispute. As a result, the KMC has been unable to give the hall on lease to organise programmes, thereby losing the amount in rent.
Chief Executive Officer at the City Hall, Ganesh Prasad Thapaliya, said that the City Hall has been bearing a loss of Rs 150,000 daily after its reconstruction.
Thapaliya further said that though people have been coming to the KMC every day to take the hall on lease, but in vain.
