Dispute over leadership among UCPN (Maoist) cadres in Rasuwa

Dhunche (Rasuwa),5 Nov 2014: Dispute has surfaced among the UCPN (Maoist) cadres in Rasuwa district over the legitimate leadership of the party’s district committee.

Issuing a press release, Indra Bahadur Gotame, close to Pushpa Kamal Dahal faction, said the District Committee formed under the leadership of former lawmaker Prem Bahadur Tamang, close to Dr Baburam Bhattarai, was illegal parallel committee after Tamang claimed that the District Committee has been formed under his leadership by majority.

Dispute has surfaced after the Gotame Group made public that Tamang was suspended.

Due to the dispute the government and non-government organisations in the district are in a dilemma to invite the district level leaders of the party to district-level meetings and discussions for the suggestions in development construction works.

UCPN (Maoist) Politburo member Hit Bahadur Tamang said election process was cancelled after cadres clashed at the District Conference held on April 28 and Gotame is the chief leader in the party so far.

Whereas, Tamang argued that he was elected as the District Chairman by two-third majority through the voting process.
