Kathmandu, August 8, 2017: YUWA, a youth-led organization working to promote youth participation through empowerment and advocacy, is organizing an open poem competition to mark International Youth Day. This is the second iteration of the contest held annually.
Abiding by the theme of International Youth Day 2017, ‘Youth Building Peace’, the contest runs under the same theme to celebrate Int’l Youth Day. The contest runs in two categories, Nepali and English. Top five poets of both the English and Nepali category will be called for the video shooting and their poem recitation will be shared on YUWA’s Facebook Page.
“The main motive behind this competition is to encourage youth to contribute to peace building in creative ways through their skills, expertise, and interests. We expect to hear youth voices in regards to peace building, sustainable peace and their actions to foster peace,” Saurav Thapa Shrestha, Executive Member of YUWA shared to Glocal Khabar.
YUWA calls for all the poem lovers and enthusiasts of Kathmandu valley to present their poem for this year’s Int’l Youth Day.
