Babiyachaur (Myagdi), Oct 21,2014: The number of domestic tourists visiting Mustang through Myagdi has declined heavily after the recent snowstorm.
The tourists arriving here from different parts of the country, including the capital city, are very few after the disastrous blizzard a week ago. Many tourists cancelled their trekking after the disaster.
Before the blizzard, as many as 2,500 tourists visited Mustang via Beni, headquarters of Beni district every day. But now, hardly 300 tourists a day move through here, said Kapil Sahi, monitor at Kalipul counter of the vehicle operation committee.
After the tourists’ arrival declined unexpectedly in the beginning of the season, the entrepreneurs and hoteliers have been worried of their business, said Indra Singh Sherchan, hotelier at Beni.
The local tourism entrepreneurs have, however, said Jomsom, Muktinath, Kagbeni and Marpha, are not hostile to tourists despite blizzards in the upper Mustang.
