Kanchanpur, 15 October 2015: A door-to-door campaign has been commenced in Kanchanpur to increase the access of differently able children to school education.

As part of the campaign initiated for enhancing access of mentally retarded and physically challenged children to educational opportunities, awareness creating program, data collection and consultation with guardians are taking place in the district.
The campaign is organized in the context when most of the guardians do not want their children with disabilities to send to school for education.
Even the children enrolled to school do not want to appear in classes due to feeling of humiliation, said Principal of Kalika Secondary School of Jhalari Madhu Devi Bohora.
It has been found that the students with different forms of disabilities have been deprived of school education due to weak financial status and illiteracy among guardians.
The Jhalari Pipladi Municipality area alone has witnessed over three dozen children with mental retardation and other disabilities.
