DPM Gautam condoles grief stricken family of jajarkot bus accident

Kathmandu, Nov 27: Deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam has expressed his sadness over the Jajarkot bus accident.

As many as 47 passengers died and few others went missing after the bus (Na 3 Kha 1408) heading to Surkhet from Jajarkot district headquarters fell into Bheri River at Bhur VDC of the Jajarkot on November 20.

Minister for Home Affairs Gautam issued a press statement on Thursday and said the Ministry had dispatched a team including swimming experts via Nepal Army Helicopter right after the government received the news of the tragic accident.

The team  carried out rescue operation in coordination with the local administration, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, cadres of local political parties, bus entrepreneurs, and others.  A total of 47  dead bodies have been retrieved so far. The search for the missing others continues, he added.

The local administration had taken initiative to identify and handover the bodies to the kin of victims. The deceased families were also provided with immediate support of Rs 25,000 and the injured people are undergoing treatment in different hospitals, the statement reads.

Deputy Prime Minister Gautam said the government has already formed a probe committee that included representatives of political parties, civil society, victim’s families and transport entrepreneurs to investigate the incident and that the government would coordinate with the concerned bodies in the central level and the local level to minimize such tragic accidents.

The Statement issued by Deputy Prime Minister Gautam further reads, “In this hour of the grief I would like to extend eternal peace to the soul of the departed”. He has also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.

“The details of dead and injured in the incident are being ascertained and the government is committed to take all possible measures for the relief,” Deputy Prime Minister Gautam said. RSS
