Durbar High School To Be Reconstructed

Kathmandu, August 3, 2018: One of the oldest school, Durbar High School, which was damaged by Earthquake 2015 is to be reconstructed. The reconstruction has officially started.

Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, Minister of Education, Science and Technology along with Yu Hong, Chinese Ambassador of Nepal officially announced on a program in school premises. The funds of 55 million for reconstruction will be provided by China under one of the 25th China Aid post-disaster reconstruction projects in Nepal. A four-storey building with more than 40 classrooms will be built. The school building is designed by China Aviation Planning and Design Institute and Shanghai Construction Group Co. Limited will helm the construction work. According to China’s mission, the project is expected to finish within a 20-month period. Department of Archaeology (DoA) claims to monitor the reconstruction process and make sure that there is no changes and modifications in its original designs.

Ambassador Yu assured that the Chinese government will promote post-disaster reconstruction project in economic and social development sectors. She hoped that the construction will result in the complete construction of high-quality infrastructures and safe as well as the comfortable environment.
