Kathmandu, 13 July , 2015 : Headquarters of the Nepal Academy for Science and Technology (NAST) and Dharke in Dhading district has installed an earthquake early warning system.

Some respite has been brought in the country which is at high risk seismologically by the installment of the warning system. With the support of   Chinese organization named the Institute of Care Life, the warning system gives the warning of quake some 20 seconds in advance.

NAST earlier had signed an agreement with the Chinese company to install 80 such equipments said Vice-Chancellor of NAST, Professor Dr Jeevraj Pokharel and now the Life Care has agreed to provide 40 more earthquake sensors.

He believed that the early warning system would be useful in lessening the loss of human life during the quake.

The second biggest quake on record in modern Nepal, claimed the lives of around 9,000 people and injured 22,500. Some 800,000 houses were recorded to have sustained damages in the quake.
