Butwal, March 27, 2017: Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Sah has reaffirmed that the Election Commission is determined to hold upcoming local level election on the scheduled date.
Talking to media persons during the two-day Training of Trainers (TOT) organized by the Commission in Butwal on Sunday, Sah shared that the estimated 360,000 candidates would contest in the election that is taking place after 20 years.
“Preparations are underway in the Commission to hold election on May 14 although the Commission has got only 48 days left to undertake the responsibility of holding it in a free, fair and impartial manner,” said Sah, adding that the purchase of some 25,000 ballot boxes, publication of voter identity cards and ballot papers are expedited.
He also shared that trainings on voter education are also being conducted in various 21,000 voting centers in the country so as to encourage as many as many as eligible voters to cast their votes.
According to him, the volunteers would be mobilized for the door-to-door campaign to educate voters on ballot paper and casting their votes correctly.
