Int’l accolade to British School Kathmandu

Kathmandu, December 11, 2016: The British School Kathmandu (TBS) has won the UK Times Educational Supplement’s (TES) British International School Initiative of the Year award—the only category open to international schools at the 2016 Independent School Awards.

ES, a weekly newspaper in the UK that focuses on school-related news and features, on awarding the British School Kathmandu, mentioned in a statement, “The British School (TBS) Kathmandu is an excellent school: it provides an outstanding quality of education and demonstrates an exceptional flexibility in meeting the learning and personal needs of its students.”

The statement, posted on TES website, further read, “The school used long-standing relationships forged through a student-led development initiative to make a significant contribution in the aftermath of the April 2015 Nepal earthquake.”

John Moore, principal at TBS since 2013, praised the support the school received from other organisations during the crisis. He stated, “We cannot speak highly enough of all those who came together to support the school. When it came to rebuilding the Dhading schools we must thank the government of Nepal, the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education Sanothimi alongside the District Education Office Dhading for collaborating on the 5 projects we have completed so far. It has been a genuine team effort reflective of the strength of the Britain-Nepal relationship.”
