Islington College bags Daraz Championship Case Study 2017

Kathmandu, July 23, 2017: Islington College has won the first ever Daraz Championship Case Study Competition 2017 beating five other finalists in the Grand Finale held at Yak and Yeti Hotel on 22 July 2017.

Daraz Kaymu had organized Daraz Championship Case Study Competition in partnership with Ace Institute of Management as its calendar event. The main objective of the tournament was to help bridge the gap between the academia and the corporate sector while nurturing the analytical, problem solving, presentation and creative thinking skills of Students.

The preliminary round was held at Ace Institute of Management on 15th July 2017 with a total of 18 colleges competing for a place in the Grand Finale. Out of the 18 colleges, Ace Institute of Management, The British College, Islington College, Ace International Business School, Uniglobe College and Kantipur Valley College had qualified for the Grand Finale.

The six qualified teams competed for a total cash prize of Rs 1.75 Lakhs in the grand finale. All the teams were given a case related to Daraz a week before. While one team was doing presentation, the remaining teams were kept in a separate waiting room to avoid Plagiarism. The six finalists were adjudged by a judging panel comprising of Mr. Subu Shrestha (Director, Advantage Group), Mr. Sanjay Golcha (Director, Golcha Organization) and Mr. Ajay Shrestha (Former CEO, Bank of Kathmandu).

The team of Mr. Pranay Agrawal, Ms. Rasila Shrestha and Mr. Sudip Babu Shrestha from Islington College were awarded a trophy and Prize money of Rs 1 Lakh. For this victory, they have got an opportunity to participate the Daraz Future Leadership Programme. Kantipur Valley College finished as First Runners up while Ace International Business School bagged the Second Runners up Prize. They were awarded Rs 50,000 and Rs 25000 cash prize respectively.

Daraz Kaymu hopes to make this event bigger and better next year by taking it nationwide with the winning team from Nepal competing against the winning teams of each of its member countries.

Daraz Group had successfully organized similar competition in Bangladesh and Pakistan earlier this year. Daraz operates in Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar.
