Kathmandu University to receive Rs 8m grant from Japan

Kathmandu, March 14, 2017: The government of Japan has decided to provide a sum of 82,800 US dollars, equivalent to over eight million rupees, to Kathmandu University under the government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects scheme.

According to the Embassy of Japan, a grant contract related to the GGP is scheduled to be signed and exchanged at the Embassy of Japan to Nepal tomorrow, between  Charge d’Affaires of Japan to Nepal Shinya Machida and Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha.

Under this grant assistance, Kathmandu University will work with E&T, a private company, to implement the GGP for the Installation of Water Purification System at Dhulikhel Hospital and Ravi Opi village in Kavrepalanchok district.

The aim of this project will be to improve water quality.

The hospital and local water management committee can manage the water system by utilising batteries as well as solar panels under the project.
