Student enrollment campaign sees 39 percent of out of school children school

Kathmandu, May 20, 2018: The government has only been able to enroll 39 percent of the total out of school children into the education system so far. The progress is the progress of the campaign during the month of Baisakh.
Baikuntha Aryal, spokesperson at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology shared that a total of 34,344 students were enrolled in the primary level out of 88,887 children of school going children who were out of school.
The campaign started off with Prime Minister KP Oli taking guardianship of one student in Mugu. Following the example of the PM, a total of 777 students have received guardianship from people including Ministers, Parliamentarians, Mayors, Movie actors and so on.
Children from poor family backgrounds, children with physical disability and children from backward communities who were admitted into the schools received free books upon admission.
“The government is working to enroll all the children into the education system as the campaign runs throughout the year,” added Aryal.
