TU Offering Yoga as Academic Course

Kathmandu, September 30, 2018: Tribhuwan University, Kirtipur is starting an academic course in Yoga under the Central Department of Sanskrit. The admission for the course will be open in October.

Yoga course will be one-year post-graduate diploma curriculum. The department has finalized everything and is working on the teacher appointment.  The yoga courses will be taught in three languages i.e. Sanskrit, Nepali, and English, especially for foreign students.

The course is named as Yog Adhi Snatak with fee below Rs. 60,000. TU Academic Council had decided to offer the course on September 6. The students holding a bachelor’s degree in any faculty are eligible for applying. The full marks of the course will be 800 in which 400 marks each is for practical and theoretical subjects.

According to Narayan Gautam, Head of Sanskrit Department, “Yoga was originated nearly 5,000 years back, some also believe that it might be 10,000 years old. We wanted to launch this course with the aim to revive the ancient science of yoga as far as possible through the extensive curriculum. ”

Only 30 intakes will be in the first batch of as per the decision of the department.
