Nepalgunj, Sept: 7: The number of women illegally going to gulf countries and neighboring India has increased these days. Of them some are reportedly trafficked and some go missing, such applications were received in Mid-Western Development Regional Office of Maiti Nepal.
As many as 310 such applications were received in the office last year, said regional coordinator at the office Keshav Koirala.
He further added that the number of missing might be more as all families do not report such incidents in the office. Coordinator Koirala added that the efforts of controlling such human trafficking cases have become more complicated these days.
The main cause of missing and trafficking the women is poverty as most of them were reported from dalit, poor and ethnic minorities.
Of total missing, 70 per cent are found gone in gulf countries and rest of other in India.
