Kathmandu, November 7, 2016: The widely anticipated Ekadeshma International Short Film Festival is scheduled to begin from 11th of November till 13th of November at QFX Kumari Cinema, Kamal Pokhari. The festival features a massive 78 number of films, from both national and international grounds, all less than 30 mins.

This 4th edition of the festival, after skipping last year, is being held under the theme ‘And Life Goes On’. The members of the organizing committee pointed out the misfortune of last year’s twin earthquakes and the trade blockade, which resulted in their inefficiency to present the Festival. This year, however, the festival is going to be held with great gusto and resilience, to show while misfortune occurs daily, life still goes on!

The festival committee also released the trailer of this year’s festival amidst a press-meet organized in Kathmandu today. Formed from small cuttings and clips of films to be shown this year, the trailer also focuses on the theme, ‘And Life Goes on’, after a serial montage of various positive as well as negative sentiments and emotions. The committee states that, they have planned to introduce the movie and film industries from the SAARC countries that are under the dominance of the giant Indian Film Industry. This year, Bhutan and its growing film industry is to be featured under the thematic focus, ‘Enter the Dragon’. Similarly, other thematic focus includes, ‘Changing Perspectives, ‘Love Letters’ and ‘Future of Cinema’.

The festival is also set to hold 4 panel discussion sessions regarding the film industries in SAARC countries, social reforms from movies and films (specially matter of LGBTIQ), film funding and festivals and co-productions between South Asian nations.
