EmpowHER conducts Final Pitching Session and Entrepreneurs’ Expo

Kathmandu, September 15, 2018: EmpowHER 2018 has successfully completed its final pitching session on September 1, 2018 at Bikalpa Art Center, Pulchowk, where 16 young women changemakers presented their service impact ideas.

EmpowHER, a leadership and idea incubation institute by Ujyalo Foundation has been held every year since 2015 for young women of age 18-29 years. This year too, the participants went through 16 weeks of training and workshops to polish their ideas and pitch it for final evaluation by the Advising Committee members who will select three promising winners of the seed fund money of NRS 50,000 each to implement their projects within the coming year and announce the winners during the graduation ceremony of EmpowHER on September 15, 2018.

The advising committee of EmpowHER 2018 consists of Avinash Jha; the education and fellowship director at United World Schools, Kamal Keshari Tuladhar; President of Association of St. Mary’s Alumnae Nepal (ASMAN) and Director of Bluebird Mall, Nikita Acharya; CEO and Founder of Urban Girl, Sharu Joshi Shrestha; Gender and Development Specialist, Deepak Sapkota; Executive Director of Karuna Foundation as well as Chhiring Yangjum Sherpa; EmpowHER Co-Lead of Ujyalo Foundation.

The final pitching session was followed by Umang, an Entrepreneurs’ Expo by EmpowHER celebrating women entrepreneurship. EmpowHER 2018 changemakers and EmpowHER alumni exhibited their services, products and project ideas along with music, food and game stalls. The expo also brought together other local women entrepreneurs to showcase their products such as Craft and Embellish, Decraftmandu, Kala Kathmandu, Little Things and Project Humane which helped in highlighting women’s entrepreneurship and leadership journey thus far.
