27 November,2014: Taylor Swift’s slowly growing IMDB page is kind of like that one Natasha Bedingfield song — i.e., the rest is still unwritten. One film role she won’t add to that list any time soon, however, is that of Joni Mitchell, one of Swift’s favorite musicians of all time.
Back in 2012, the “Blank Space†singer was linked to a rumored film adaptation “Girls Like Us,†author Sheila Weller’s biography of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon. But according to a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Mitchell herself was not on board with either Swift’s casting or the project as a whole.
“I squelched that!†the folk-rock icon told the paper. “I said to the producer, ‘All you’ve got is a girl with high cheekbones.’ It’s just a lot of gossip, you don’t have the great scenes.â€
Well, that sucks. I guess we can’t all pull a Lindsay Lohan and play our celebrity faves on-screen. (“Liz & Dick†4 evahhhh.)
Taylor’s always been a super-vocal fan of Joni’s, even citing Blue as her “favorite album of all time†in a 2013 interview with Rhapsody. “I think this album is my favorite because it explores somebody’s soul so deeply,†she explained.
