Kalaiya (Bara),9 November 2014:Â Member countries of the European Union (EU) have urged the authority concerned to ban animal scarification at Gadhimai Temple of Bariyapur in Bara district.
The EU countries urged through Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the letters was received from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Bara District Administration Office, officials said.
The highest numbers of animals are sacrificed at the temple. The religious fair at the temple takes place in every five years and to begin on November 28 this year.
The notice has been supplied to the Gadhimai Temple Protection and Development Committee, Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bara chapter and other stakeholders, a source at the DAO said.
