Kathmandu, May 25,2018: FACTS Research & Analytics, an independent private research organisation, has announced the ‘FACTS Infographics Competition 2018’ contest – which aims to encourage submissions of digital infographics based on relevant data and information.

Infographics are generally associated with visual representations of data and information in a clear and concise manner, in order for people to better understand the data. These are a relatively new development in Nepal and the FACTS team, themselves are renowned for creating and sharing infographics based on data from various sectors. Along with sharing their works on social media, they also publish a yearly booklet entitled, ‘FACTS of Nepal,’ which is a compilation of infographics and analysis of data from various sectors of Nepal.

The submissions must be made on data related to Nepal from information or statistics collected from reputed reliable sources, that includes government bodies or international inter-government institutions. FACTS will be keeping submissions open till the 15th of June and the winners will be announced on the 23rd of June. This year’s competition winner will receive a Wacom Intuos pen tablet, a drawing tablet that is considered a staple in the repertoire of digital artists around the world. Along with the winner of the competition, the runners-up as well as some lucky participants will be receiving prizes from the company.

Manish Jha, the general manager at FACTS, trusts that this competition will encourage artists to think of data differently and it will also further bring infographics in the public eye. “There is an immense need for us, Nepalis, to understand and use data to make decisions,” he said, “Further, portraying data with a creative mindset will be of further use to the general public, who will find it easier to understand.”

FACTS, being a research company, adds value to the decisions and strategies of its clients by providing reliable, contextual and actionable information based on research and analysis. The company is also guided by its social goals to provide real, transparent information to the public and bridging the information asymmetry in Nepal, that will foster a data-driven decision-making culture at the social, political, economic and even personal level.
