September 26, 2016: A lot of money would have been saved had these proud owners of iPhone 7 hadn’t tried to drill their own headphone jacks into their brand-new iphones.
As we all know, Apple’s new iPhone 7 has two ear pods but no headphone jack on the handset. That said, a lot of prank videos surfaced on YouTube, directing hapless owners in drilling their own headphone port.
In the video, a man uses a clamp to keep the phone still between the clips and then he drills the port in the iPhone.
Following the video, many £600-handsets were destroyed within no time. The stupid video tells people exactly how to drill a port without damaging their handsets—a thing which is nearly inevitable.
The video was watched 8 million times and many people left their concerns in comments, asking for clarifications on their doubts.
“I tried this and ended up with display destruction and it not working… I really committed the biggest mistake of my life by watching his video,” wrote James Ceja.
The lamenting over the consequence just didn’t stop. While a lot of users were crying over how they lost their phone, the rest who didn’t perform the act where questioning the IQ level of those who did.
“A friend of mine told me it worked for him, but my iPhone won’t turn on after I drilled the hole for the jack. I checked and it was the 3.5mm drill, so I made no mistake there! What happened? Any of you have the same problem?” wrote an irritated David.
Sean Solomon posted underneath the video: “I don’t know what I was thinking. I actually drilled about half way and realised that this is retarded and you were f****** we me. Now, what to I do?”
