Kathmandu, Jan 26: The UCPN (Maoist) led opposition alliance, federal democratic republican alliance (FDRA), has decided to go for street protests blaming that the ruling parties strayed from the consensus process.

The meeting of the FDRA held in UCPN (Maoist)’s parliamentary party office, Singh Durbar today, decided to go for protests, concluding that the ruling parties gave up the principle of consensus made in the past and the CA chair also totally negated the voice of the opposition parties. Therefore, they decided to go for protest, said Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal chair Upendra Yadav.

The meeting further concluded that the ruling parties forgot the aspirations of the past agreements like the peace accord, the 12-point agreement and the Interim Constitution-2063 BS.

However, the meeting is yet to announce its protest programmes schedule and modality.

Sanghiya Samajbadi Party chair Ashok Rai said that they did not have any alternative of going for protest and to the people as the ruling parties destroyed the environment for consensus.

Similarly UCPN (Maoist)’s Chief Whip Giriraj Mani Pokharel said that they were compelled to go for protests to alert the people about the latest political development.
