Banepa, April 19, 2017: At least 87 earthquake-resilient houses built at Pipaltar of Panchkhal Municipality in Kavrepalanchowk have been handed to a community.

The structures were constructed with the technical and financial assistance from Habitat for Humanity Nepal and in partnership with the Center for Research and Sustainable Development Nepal, an NGO, according to National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) sub-regional office, Dhulikhel.

The construction cost of a house is Rs 800,000, as stated by Office Chief Dhruba Gainda.

Construction works had begun August 29, 2015, four months after the Gorkha earthquake and had completed this month.

On the occasion, the Office Chief said the government alone could not carry out the postquake reconstruction works so support from international donors was essential in this regard.

There is a plan to construct 250 earthquake-resilient houses in other places of Panchakhal under the Model Village (Integrated Rural Development Project).
